Capri Sun drink packets may be contaminated with cleaning solution

Kraft Heinz reported Monday that more than 5,700 packs of Capri Sun’s wild cherry-flavored juice pouches are being voluntarily recalled due to probable contamination with cleaning solution.

“Inadvertently, food processing equipment cleaning solution was introduced into a manufacturing line at one of our plants,” Kraft Heinz stated in a statement, adding that only some wild cherry-flavored Capri Sun products marketed in the United States were impacted. According to a spokeswoman for the brand’s parent business, Capri Sun AG, there is no major health risk.

Kraft Heinz reported discovering the issue after getting “many customer complaints” over the flavor.

The “Best When Used By” date on all impacted goods is June 25, 2023. According to the corporation, the manufacturer code on individual pouches ranges between 0733-0900 and the manufacturer code on the cartons the pouches are supplied in ranges between 0733-1000.

These products may be returned to the retailer where they were originally bought.

Capri Sun AG said in a statement supplied to CBS News that its goods marketed in other countries are manufactured by a separate company and are not impacted by the recall. “As the safety of our customers is of the utmost importance, Capri-Sun is dedicated to a high quality standard. If anybody has issues about their Capri-Sun product, they are encouraged to call the appropriate customer service number in their country of purchase, which can be located on the back of their product packaging “the business said.
