Britney Spears has apologized to Alexa Nikolas for causing her childhood “horror.”
The 40-year-old pop star is believed to have confronted former child star Nikolas, 30, when she starred on the 2000s teen comedy “Zoey 101” alongside her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears. She took to Twitter on Thursday to explain herself, hours after Nikolas herself recounted the incident in an interview.
Spears tweeted, “Seeing your interview about your journey in the business broke my heart… Hollywood is a place where dreams come true, but let’s be real… On rare occasions do folks reveal their evil side years later!!!
“There are hundreds of people with broken hopes, and I am in awe of your efforts to educate the future generation on how to protect themselves… The only thing you wished you could have told your younger self is that you could have simply walked away.
“Countless times I’ve done the same thing and endured abuse… It’s comforting to know I’m not alone in feeling this way… I am aware that you are revealing information 15 years later, but trust me… I am aware that it is still significant!!!
“Although I personally apologized to you out of ‘instinct,’ my heart at the time was unaware of how extraordinarily talented my family was with the ACTING LANGUAGE!!!
“Just imagine … My visit to my sister’s set on the final day of filming, bringing Sprinkles cupcakes… 9 months pregnant, hormones raging like crazy, and the assistant director lan witnesses Jamie Lynn running over to me, resting her hands on my knees as I’m seated, and sobbing that she’s being bullied on set!!!
“Both the assistant director and my mother were completely silent!” My sister was precisely the same age as my kid… “I apologize for my naivety in yelling at you when I clearly had no idea what was happening!”
At the time, the “Toxic” singer was expecting her son Jayden, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
She remarked, “Jesus Christ… I was pregnant, and let’s be frank: all these parents… ‘THE WATCHFUL WHITE OWL’ who hide behind the scenes and observe their child stars… are ‘THE WATCHFUL WHITE OWL’ Regarding my mother, who should have assumed control of the matter immediately,… I advised my nine-month pregnant self to take a seat, relax, and enjoy a Sprinkles cupcake. 09 0909 AAA !!!
Because I was a visitor, they should have treated me accordingly. My family’s efforts to disgrace me have always been incredibly entertaining.
Spears, who regained control of her fortune and aspects of her life when a conservatorship governed by her family was terminated in 2021, implied that media outlets lied that she has “run out of paper” and thus has been unable to complete her tell-all memoir, but she encouraged Nikolas to tell Nickelodeon to “kiss her a**” because what happened to her was “beyond it all”.
“I’m sure you’ve heard about what happened to me three years ago – I wrote three distinct versions of a book. Since then, it’s been the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to accomplish!!!
“And if you HAVEN’T ALREADY HEARD, it has become a joke because ‘TMZ News’ reports that I ran out of paper on 09 09 09… I’m sure they also find it amusing to see me on Instagram.
“What was done to me is just unfathomable… the way you spoke gave me strength and inspiration, but I’m sending you this message now to apologize for ever hurting your feelings!!! You need to tell Nickelodeon to kiss your a**!”
In response to the tweet, Nikolas, who also claimed in the initial interview that Nickelodeon had neglected to apologize, said that she had been “sobbing” while thanking the pop star for her “compassion.”
She tweeted, “So much love for you. I’m seriously bawling. Thank you very much. SO much. This level of kindness is currently melting my heart. You deserve the very best in life. Sincerely, you have always been my greatest source of motivation.
