‘Black Adam’ ending: How Dwayne Johnson’s superhero affects the DCEU

So, why did Teth-Adam acquire abilities?

Black Adam is initially described as a youthful slave who revolted against a cruel monarch who forced his subjects to mine for Eternium so he could construct a crown out of it (but more on that later). Before the young slave can be put to death, however, the wizard Shazam and other magical elders transform him into a champion.

And while all of this is accurate, the film attempts to mislead the audience into believing that the present Black Adam is still the young boy’s altered body. After the boy’s mother was murdered by the king, he entrusted his abilities to his father, Teth-Adam.

This is because the youthful hero realized he couldn’t handle the threat, whereas Adam was determined to embrace his violent side in pursuit of vengeance.

Unfortunately, this backfires immediately when Adam’s kid is killed by arrows fired by the king’s assassins, and his grief only intensifies his desire for vengeance.

As a result, he crashes into the king’s palace, explodes with energy, and kills everyone inside. The event prompts the history books to refer to Black Adam as a destroyer instead of a champion, and they are not incorrect.

Ishmael desires the Crown of Sabbac for what reason?

The film rapidly establishes that Adrianna Tomasz (Sarah Shahi) and her rebel group are searching for an ancient item known as the “Crown of Sabbac” to prevent Intergang from obtaining it.

Since Tomasz has spent the most of her life living under military rule and Intergang is stripping Kahndaq of everything of value, it is hardly unexpected that she desires to preserve the nation’s history.

Tomasz collaborates with Ishmael Gregor (Marwan Kenzari), the leader of Intergang who masquerades as a rebel. However, why does he betray his own people in order to obtain the crown? Well, he is an extremist above all else.

Ishmael reveals to Black Adam and the Justice Society that he is the last surviving descendant of the king who ruled Kahndaq thousands of years ago. As a result of his ancestry, Ishmael is intent on seizing power and restoring his family’s legacy to its former glory.

The Crown of Sabbac is crafted from Eternium, a rare mineral found beneath the land, and is inscribed with a message that reveals how to release its ultimate power.

Essentially, if they have the crown and let themselves die, they will go to hell and be reincarnated as Sabbac, the champion of hell. Ishmael allows Black Adam to kill him because he anticipates becoming one of the most powerful beings in existence.

Similar to how Shazam stands for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury, Sabbac is an abbreviation for Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis. The implication is that Sabbac is a dark, perverted version of Shazam, thus it’s odd that DC saved him for this picture rather than “Shazam!” in 2019.

What did the vision of Doctor Fate mean?

Pierce Brosnan in the role of Doctor Fate.

Warner Bros. Films

Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan, is troubled by disturbing visions throughout the film seeing Kahndaq exploding with electricity as Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) gets impaled on a rod. The mission to restore “international stability” is not exactly a good omen, but he minimizes its significance to his avian buddy.

However, it turns out that the vision is Doctor Fate’s means of persuading himself to sacrifice himself in order to stop Sabbac. Fate prevented the members of the Justice Society from engaging Sabacc because he knew Hawkman would require his death to activate the Helmet of Fate.

The magical relic is extremely precise about who can use it and when, which is why Kent had to die for Hawkman to acquire it. Fortunately, Hawkman had learned a few tactics while working with Doctor Fate for many years, which allowed him to clone himself repeatedly.

Yes, one of the duplicate Hawkmen, not the original, is stabbed by Sabbac. This indicates that Doctor Fate’s prophecy proved accurate. Even to the energy explosion in Kahndaq, which did not inflict extensive harm. But finally, Kent’s sacrifice caused Sabbac to become so preoccupied that Black Adam could actually rip him in pieces. Nice.

It is unlikely that Brosnan will resume his role as Doctor Fate in future films, considering that he disintegrated after Sabacc punched through his body.

However, the DC Extended Universe makes anything possible.

For what reason does Black Adam demolish the throne?

Black Adam, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson, seated on the throne.

Warner Bros. Films

After defeating Sabbac with the help of the Justice Society, Black Adam is rightly hailed as a hero by the citizens of Kahndaq, prompting Adrianna to urge that he ascend the throne and become the country’s new monarch. Better the devil they already know, yes?

Even though the attraction of leading his own country is obvious, Black Adam smashes the seat of authority because he has witnessed how monarchs have destroyed a once-great nation.

After all, a harsh ruler is what led to the deaths of his wife and son thousands of years ago, and it is evident that he is cognizant of the responsibilities that come with managing a tumultuous kingdom like Kahndaq.

In addition, since this is a win for the people of Kahndaq, they should be the ones to select a legitimate leader, not the antihero who has only been present for a few days.

Nonetheless, he promises to defend it with all of his electrifying talents.

What does the mid-credits scene in Superman mean?

Henry Cavill portraying Superman.

Warner Bros. Films

That is a bird! This is a plane! No, Henry Cavill is playing Superman!

In the mid-credits scene of “Black Adam,” the actor reprises his role as Superman within the DCEU. After the comical “cameo” at the end of “Shazam!” in which man’s head is just out of frame, this moment has been a long time coming.

However, the scenario focuses on the fact that Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) threatens Adam with incarceration if he leaves Kahndaq. Not surprisingly, he reacts negatively, destroying the drone projecting her hologram.

In retaliation, Waller dispatches her deadliest weapon to confront Adam: Superman. The Kryptonian says “we should discuss,” but the film does not show the remainder of their chat in order to offer the all-important sequel hook.

Black Adam vs Superman is a concept that Dwayne Johnson has not shied away from; in fact, he enjoys it.

Previously, at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor told the crowd that the outcome of the fight relies on who plays the renowned hero. Now that we know Cavill is back in his red boots, it appears the battle is imminent.

The only issue with the concept of this fight is that Superman is quite level-headed and Black Adam can at least comprehend logic in order to hold a conversation. Superman appears to be the type of hero who should be able to reason with Black Adam… However, what’s the pleasure in that?

Therefore, the sequel will have to find a natural way to put them against each other, and it seems obvious that Zachary Levi’s Shazam will be involved at some point. Although it remains to be seen whether fans require another film in which the hero and the antagonist possess the same abilities.

All of this is to imply that “Black Adam” alters the DCEU by introducing a new tremendously powerful character alongside Superman, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and others.

Teth-Adam may become the Justice League’s hidden weapon if a more formidable foe emerges in the future, assuming Warner Bros. is laying the groundwork for future developments.

“Black Adam” is currently in theaters.
