Birmingham murder: Man shot dead in Lozells area of the city as two arrested by West Midlands Police

After a young guy was shot and killed yesterday afternoon on a residential street in Birmingham, two males have been taken into custody.

At 6.30 p.m., a group of four or five guys shot the victim in the Lozells neighborhood of the city.

Despite getting first treatment at the scene, the man passed quite quickly, according to West Midlands Police.

Four to five suspects, according to witnesses, ran away on foot up Nursery Road and onto Villa Street.

Two guys were later detained by police close to the crime scene.

Officers went to the location and started a quick search of the area, according to West Midlands Police.

A house-to-house investigation is in progress, and witnesses are being questioned.

“We appreciate the concerns around the recent firearms-related events around Birmingham, and we’re already conducting extra patrols to offer comfort to locals,” the statement reads.

“It is too early to speculate on whether this is linked to any other event, but our message is clear – we will not tolerate violence in our city,” said Detective Inspector Laura Harrison of the West Midlands Police homicide unit.

“Unfortunately, another young man lost his life, and another family will be mourning the death of a loved one.”

“Firearms have no place on our streets, and we will keep up our daily patrols to stop and prevent violent crime,” the statement reads.
