»Billy Bush recalls the final interview with Lisa Marie Presley: Something’s off«

Billy Bush, host of “Extra,” said he “feels awful” about Lisa Marie Presley’s death, which occurred just two days after he interviewed her on the red carpet of the Golden Globes.

“I have a very heavy heart for anyone who is in pain,” Bush told People magazine.

According to reports, Elvis Presley passed away on Thursday at the age of 54 after her heart stopped twice and her family signed a do not resuscitate order. No official cause of death has been disclosed.

Tuesday, she was observed standing and walking unsteadily while holding the arm of her 80-year-old pal, talent manager Jerry Schilling. During the conversation with Bush, she informed her companion, “I’m going to grab your arm.”

“Her balance was extremely erratic,” Bush, 51, told Fox LA. “The speaker spoke quite slowly. Upon concluding the interview, I immediately turned to my producer and remarked, “There’s something amiss here.”

During a Golden Globes red carpet interview with Bush, Presley appeared wobbly as she grasped Jerry Schilling’s arm.

Bush reported that Presley was unable to ascend the steps to the “Extra” interview platform, requiring him to drop to the carpet in order to greet her.

“She was perceptive. She was certainly on point, albeit a split second late. Yet she was present. She was present, yet somewhat off in some manner,” Bush continued.

For interviews, A-listers had to up two steps to Bush’s platform, but Presley, the sole child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, had difficulty doing so.

“It was evident that she would not ascend the two flights. I met her on the actual red carpet,” he remembered to Fox LA.

Although the TV celebrity observed “something” occurring at the time, he claimed he never anticipated Presley’s death. Bush pondered the likelihood of “history repeating itself” and described the occurrence as “very sad.”

“Of course, you wonder, oh no, is history repeating itself? Is there another similar situation?” Bush proceeded to Fox LA, saying that Elvis died at age 42 due to heart issues. Although it seems likely, I cannot confirm that this is the case.

Elvis’ maternal grandparents were first cousins, hence according to Hollywood legend, the Presley family may be “cursed.” Gladys, Elvis’ mother, died of heart failure at age 46, and several of her siblings also died in their 40s.

Bush stated that he saw something “off” about Presley during their Tuesday interview.

Presley was rushed to the hospital mere days following his Golden Globes appearance.

Sally Hoedel, an Elvis historian, asserts that the Presley family continues to bear the consequences.

The late King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was “certainly a victim of his own DNA,” Hoedel writes in her book “Destined to Die Young.”

Lisa Marie was deeply devastated by the suicide death of her son, Benjamin Keough, at the age of 27 in 2020.

In August 2022, in recognition of National Grieving Awareness Day, she penned an essay about grief for People magazine, promoting it on Instagram “in the hopes that anyone who needs to hear all of this will find it helpful.”

According to Hoedel, the Presley family continues to endure the repercussions of first-cousin marriages in their ancestry.

Thursday, Lisa Marie was reportedly transported to the hospital after suffering a heart arrest in her Calabasas home. Sources tell TMZ that she was placed in an induced coma with a temporary pacemaker before her heart stopped beating a second time.

Thursday, Priscilla Presley, age 77, revealed her daughter’s terrible demise.

She told The Post, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.” They are deeply appreciative of everyone’s support, love, and prayers, and need privacy during this extremely painful time.

On social media, fellow celebs expressed their sorrow and disbelief and recalled good memories of the singer-songwriter.

Butler stated that his heart is “shattered” for Lisa Marie’s family and thanked her for the time they spent together.

“My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie,” actor Austin Butler, who won a Golden Globe this week for portraying Elvis Presley in the movie “Elvis,” said in a statement to The Post.

“I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her genuineness, affection, and warmth will always be remembered,” he concluded.

Leah Remini, star of “King of Queens” and former Scientologist, tweeted, “I’m heartbroken over Lisa Marie Presley’s passing.” “Lisa’s life was not easy, contrary to what people may believe. May she now rest in peace with her son and father. Riley, Finley, and Harper, along with their mother Priscilla, are in my prayers.

Thursday, Priscilla revealed her daughter’s passing and requested assistance and privacy for the mourning family.

John Travolta, who recruited Priscilla into the Church of Scientology after Elvis’ death in 1977, expressed his sorrow on Instagram.

“Lisa baby girl, I’m very sorry. I will miss you, but I know that we will meet again. He stated, “My heart and love go out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper, and Finley.”

Online, Butler, who portrayed the late Elvis in the 2022 biopic, expressed his sorrow.

Oh, this one breaks my heart, lamented Pink on Instagram. “Lisa Marie, you were truly unique. You were hilarious, intelligent, talented, funny, cruel, kind, generous, judgmental but always right, dependable, and you adored your children.

“My heart is broken for you, your lovely family, and your children. Today, the world lost a wonderful diamond. Friend, may your soul rest in peace,” she continued.

Presley is survived by her twin kids, Harper and Finley Lockwood, ages 14, as well as the 33-year-old actress Riley Keough. She will be interred alongside her deceased son at Graceland, her father’s expansive Memphis home.
