Michael Lockwood, the ex-husband of Lisa Marie Presley, has filed a request to represent their twin daughters, Harper and Finley, in an upcoming hearing for the singer’s trust.
The 61-year-old guitarist has asked a judge to appoint him as a guardian ad litem for the 14-year-olds, which would give him the authority to speak on their behalf. The hearing is scheduled for April 13th.
Presley and Lockwood had been at odds since she filed for divorce in 2016 after a 10-year marriage. Their daughters were placed in state custody for unknown reasons in 2017. In 2018, Presley requested primary custody of the twins, but Lockwood asked for custody after Presley’s son’s death, fearing that she might relapse.
Lisa Marie Presley passed away in January, and the cause of her death remains unknown. Reports suggest that she was taking opioids and weight-loss medication before her passing.
Since her death, Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley, and her oldest daughter, Riley Keough, have been in a legal battle over her will and estate. Priscilla has argued against the validity of her daughter’s will, from which she was removed.
Sources suggest that Lisa Marie and Priscilla were not on good terms before her death. Similarly, Riley and Priscilla are not on speaking terms amid the court battle.
According to an insider, Riley is mourning her mother’s loss and is heartbroken to deal with the trust dispute with a family member. She and Priscilla are not communicating, but they have been in contact through their lawyers.
Although Riley would rather settle the dispute privately, both women are reportedly preparing for a long battle in court. Lisa Marie was laid to rest next to her son and late father at Graceland.
Lockwood mourned the passing of his ex-wife with his lawyer, Joe Yanny, saying that his world had been turned upside down. Yanny also said that Michael had been hoping for a speedy and complete recovery for Lisa Marie because their children needed her.
