Bill Maher alleged that the Democrats were conspiring to bury the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story.
The comedian made these assertions on Friday’s episode of his HBO program Real Time.
Maher characterized liberal thought as follows: ‘It’s acceptable to devise a plot to remove a person as awful as Trump.’
When Rob Reiner, one of Maher’s guests, denied that the news was suppressed, Maher responded, “That’s because you watch MSNBC.”
Maher’s remarks come a day after Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, admitted that Facebook had censored the Hunter Biden story.

Bill Maher, leader of a liberal talk show, asserted that the New York Post’s infamous Hunter Biden laptop story was suppressed as part of a “conspiracy” to get rid of former president Donald Trump.
Maher made his remarks on Friday’s episode of his popular HBO program ‘Real Time.’ In October 2020, the New York Post allegedly published an article saying that the FBI had found Hunter’s laptop.
The contents of the device purportedly revealed that the son of President Joe Biden was attempting to sell his father’s influence.
He continued: ‘My friend Sam Harris was on a podcast…they were discussing Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was a story and all the mainstream press has finally admitted it was a real story, it was a real laptop — look, let’s not beat around the bush, he was selling the influence of his father, Joe Biden.’
Maher continued, “I suppose most political sons do… The press buried Hunter Biden’s laptop; even the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, thought that was a mistake. Eleven days before the 2016 election, they suppressed the story because they remembered what occurred with James Comey and the letter.
The former host of Politically Incorrect stated, “Sam Harris believes it was legitimate for Twitter, the CEOs of large tech, and the heads of journalistic institutions to feel that they were in the face of a once-in-a-lifetime moral emergency, namely Trump.”
Maher added, ‘So he’s saying it’s alright to create a plot to remove someone as horrible as Trump.’
The comic concluded, ‘He’s saying that’s exactly what they did, and that’s exactly what they did. They hid the Hunter Biden story prior to the election because they thought, ‘We can’t risk Trump winning, so we’ll tell them after the election.’
On Friday’s broadcast of Real Time, Maher questioned whether it was OK for Democrats and the media to hide the Hunter Biden story in order to remove Trump from office.
Rob Reiner stated that he was not persuaded of the existence of a conspiracy.
Amy Klobuchar, a Democratic senator from Minnesota, joined Reiner as a guest and stated that she would let the DOJ handle the Mar-a-Lago raid.
On Friday’s episode, Maher was joined by leftist Hollywood film directors Rob Reiner and Johan Waters and Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar.
The trio covered topics including January 6, abortion rights, President Joe Biden, and the funding bill for this week.
At one point, Maher said Reiner, ‘It’s a bit of a sticky topic because once you go down this road – and this is sort of where we are in this country – the other side is so bad that anything is justifiable to keep them from becoming president. Is it?’
Reiner, director of such masterpieces as The Shawshank Redemption and Stand by Me, attempted to refocus the discussion on the January 6th Capitol incident by stating, “You know what’s not justified? Using armed violence to attempt to murder someone in the Capitol. That cannot be justified.

When Reiner indicated that he believed Donald Trump would be indicted over the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago, Maher responded, “You know how many times I’ve heard that on MSNBC?

This prompted Klobuchar to join the conversation and declare, “I’m not sure if they all stated this.”

Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive officer of Facebook, disclosed that the platform employed an algorithm to bury the Hunter Biden laptop story when it first broke in 2020.

Approximately at the same time, the New York Post first reported the scandalous contents of Hunter Biden’s computer, which were then censored by Twitter.
More than fifty former senior intelligence officials at the time wrote in a letter that the laptop story “had all the hallmarks of a Russian information operation.”
Zuckerberg stated, “Therefore, we went a different route than Twitter.” The FBI contacted us, or at least some members of our team, and said, “Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert.”
He continued, ‘We believed there was a great deal of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. Notification has been provided that a dump of similar materials is imminent. So just be alert.’
