Bill Maher, presenter of HBO’s ‘Real Time,’ stated on Friday that the GOP supports politicians like Herschel Walker in order to counter progressive Democrats who continue to advance their progressive agenda.
‘Part of the attractiveness of a Herschel Walker or a Donald Trump or any number of flagrant a**holes Republicans have supported is that, in their minds, the worse a candidate is, the more it says to Democrats, ‘We don’t like what you’re offering,” he added.
This month, it was revealed that Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker, 60, paid for a woman’s abortion in 2009 despite campaigning on an anti-abortion platform, and she alleges that he also encouraged her to terminate a second pregnancy.
Friday on his show, Bill Maher asked, “So why do Republicans support him?”
Then, he explained that their perspective is that “basically anything would be better” than the Democratic Party’s “socialism, identity politics, over sensitivity, cancel culture, white self-loathing, and forcing kids too young to comprehend intricate issues of race and gender.”

Maher began the bit about Walker by remarking, “he’s a f*cking idiot on a scale that’s practically impossible to parody” in reference to Walker’s claim to be an FBI agent.

Raphael Warnock, his opponent, stated that he had “never pretended to be a police officer, nor have I ever threatened a firefight with the police.”
According to a police complaint, the former NFL quarterback threatened authorities attending to a domestic dispute at his Texas home in September 2001.
Friday, Walker once again asserted that he is a member of the police force.

The moderator reprimanded him after he drew what appeared to be a phony police badge from his suit jacket pocket, as bringing props to the debate was against the rules.
Earlier this summer, Walker’s spokesman informed The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which uncovered many instances of Walker pretending to be a member of law enforcement, claimed Walker was an honorary deputy in Cobb County and three other unnamed Georgia counties.
The Cobb County Police Department informed the newspaper that it had no record of Walker’s involvement.
The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office was unable to confirm if he was an honorary deputy.
Former DeKalb County district attorney J. Tom Morgan stated that the badge was meaningless, even if it was given to Walker.
He stated, “It grants you zero law enforcement authority.” It is comparable to a junior ranger badge.
Morgan stated that many Georgia communities stopped distributing them out of concern that they could be used to commit the felony of impersonating a police officer.

In 2013, he told an Army program on suicide prevention that in 2001, he pursued a man who was late delivering a vehicle.
Walker stated, “I worked in law enforcement, so I was armed.”
I placed the revolver in my holster and declared, “I’m going to kill this guy.”
In 2017, he was quoted as saying, “I work for the Cobb County Police Department, and I’ve been in criminal justice my entire life.”
And in September of 2019, he went even farther, stepping on stage at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state and telling an audience of soldiers in war fatigues, ‘I worked for law enforcement, you guys didn’t know that either?

Walker’s spokesman stated in June, in response to the newspaper’s request for clarification, that Walker once attended a training camp in 1989, when he was retiring from professional sports.
He told the AP at the time, “They had an obstacle course where you had to shoot at targets to protect your companion as you moved up the course.”
