Biden warns of’serious impactful effects’ if GOP cuts Ukraine assistance

On Thursday, President Joe Biden criticized Republicans for their claims that they want to stop supporting Ukraine, warning that such a move would have “very negative effects.”

Biden criticized the GOP for threatening to halt help to Ukraine if they take control of Congress in November while speaking at a fundraiser in Philadelphia for Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman.

He underlined in his speech that “they stated that if they win they’re not inclined to pay, to continue to fund Ukraine.”

They don’t understand it, these men. It’s much larger than Ukraine. East Europe is involved. NATO does it. He said that the consequences are really significant. “They don’t understand American foreign policy,” I said.

The rest of the world looks to America to be a leader, Biden said, implying that western allies would follow suit and weaken Ukraine’s capacity to repel the troops of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

These players on the other squad “don’t understand it,” I said. He said, “They look to us as a leader. They don’t understand that how America performs will influence how the rest of the world does. They look to us because we are bigger and more powerful than them.

Republican lawmakers have been told that they would “not sign a blank check to Ukraine,” according to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is in line to become Speaker Nancy Pelosi should Democrats lose control of the House.

McCarthy’s warning seems to have been taken seriously by lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

According to NBC News, lawmakers from both parties have proposed include $50 billion in money for Ukraine in an omnibus budget measure that would be passed before a new Congress is ushered in in January.

The $12 billion package for Ukraine that Congress passed last month is still being sought for before a new group of legislators take charge on Capitol Hill.

According to a Republican senator with knowledge of the situation, the sum would be sufficient “to make sure [Ukraine] can get through the year.” It will make the $12 billion seem insignificant.

In the midterm election on November 8th, Republicans are expected to win control of the House. The Senate is thought to be more competitive. Early January would see the swearing-in of the new legislators.

Since Russia invaded the nation in February, Congress has given Ukraine a total of $65 billion in assistance.

With Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has Trump’s support, Fetterman is running a close fight. On Thursday, Biden spent time in Pennsylvania supporting Fetterman.

Biden was welcomed by Fetterman when the president arrived in Pittsburgh. In order to discuss the upcoming infrastructure money for the state, the two men went to the location of a bridge that had fallen.

Before traveling to Philadelphia for the benefit, they also stopped at Primanti Brothers in Moon Township, a popular sandwich restaurant in the neighborhood.

The sandwiches from Primanti’s, which come with a layer of coleslaw and French fries sandwiched between big slices of bread, are a Pittsburgh institution.

According to the White House, Biden paid $40 in tips and ordered the “Pitts-burger” with a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, slaw, and fries.

At his last engagement of the day, Biden turned to politics after his lunch break.

At the fundraiser, Biden cautioned the Democrats, saying: “If we lose this off-year election, we’re in big danger.” America is really at a turning moment.

Whether or whether Biden’s Democratic Party maintains control of the Senate will be determined in part by the Pennsylvania Senate election.

Dr. Oz, a competitor of Fetterman, came under fire from Biden.

Oz attended high school there, but “Delaware was clever enough to send him to New Jersey,” he said.

He said that Oz “is for erasing all we have done.”

He also reiterated his critique that a sizable portion of the Republican Party consists of Trump-loyal “MAGA Republicans.”

We need to remind people about the Republican Party’s goals in order to promote them. He added, “This is not your father’s Republican party.”
