Climate protestors on Volkswagen floor are left in cold and dark

A chilly and gloomy night awaits the nine protesters who sewed themselves to the floor of a Volkswagen dealership in Germany to voice their opposition to climate change.

The demonstrators were left on the concrete floor as Volkswagen personnel closed the doors and turned off the lights and heating.

All of the demonstrators, who are scientists, according to reports, contend that although the manufacturer acknowledged their right to demonstrate, they were not given any assistance during the protest.

One of the protestors, Gianluca Grimalda, said on Twitter that “they ignored our request to give us with a bowl to pee and defecate in a civilized way while we are attached, and have turned off the heater.”

Until their demands to decarbonize the German transportation industry are realized, he said that some of the demonstrators are also on hunger strike.

‘We can’t order our meal; we have to use the one that Volkswagen has given. lights off. Random, unannounced inspections by security personnel using spotlights,’ he added.

Members of the “Scientist Rebel” organization, which describes itself as a group of scientists “ready to expose the truth about the climate problem, and act on it,” are the activists.

They are also pressing Volkswagen, one of the biggest automakers in the country, to do more to combat pollution.

Online images of the protest showed six of the demonstrators pinned to the ground in front of three Porsches.

The group sat cross-legged on the ground with their hands glued, looking away from the camera while donning lab coats.

Hours later, another picture of the group sitting in the dark was circulated. They were seated in a circle with the Porsche’s headlights shining behind them at this time, seeming to have unglued themselves from the earth.

After Volkswagen employees departed, more protesters arrived, and they continue to stand outside giving moral support.

“There is a genuine connection between CO2 emissions and increasing global temperatures,” said Mr. Grimalda.

The goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions put out in Roadmap 2050 is too far off to make a significant influence, hence decarbonization is crucial and must occur as soon as feasible.

Volkswagen has publicly stated its commitment to assisting in the transition to a greener future.

The automaker has increased the output of electric vehicles, claiming: “Volkswagen invests in a holistic strategy in pursuit of the objective to build an all electric model fleet.”

Additionally, the firm is looking for methods to cut these emissions both throughout the car’s lifespan and during the manufacture phase in order to decrease its “unavoidable emissions.”
