Beneficiaries can begin collecting SASSA funds NEXT WEEK

Good news! The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment dates for social grants in February 2023.

As previously reported, SASSA said in 2022 that it had received beneficiary concerns regarding the prior payment schedule and decided to implement a change.

If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or national holiday, the payment will be made on the next business day, according to SASSA. The elderly and their accompanying grants are paid first, followed by grants for the disabled and children.

On Thursday, older adults and their related funds will be paid, followed by disability grants on Friday and children’s grants – together with all others – on Monday of the following week.

Senior citizens – Thursday, February 2

Grants for the disabled – Friday, February 3

Grants for children – Monday, February 6

Beneficiaries of social grants have been asked to continue using their Postbank-issued gold cards and to access their funds via stores and ATMs, among other options.

“Social grant recipients with a gold card can continue to use the same card wherever that allows credit card transactions. Beneficiaries can also use the gold card at Shoprite, Checkers, U-Save, Pick ‘n Pay, and Boxer locations nationwide where cashback is available, according to the government.
