Atlanta-area school bus driver out on bond after he broke into the home of a 10-year-old girl

A school bus driver in the Atlanta area was arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of a 10-year-old girl. Gogineni Rayudu, 56, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor loitering.

However, he was released on Thursday after posting a $20,000 bond. The young girl’s mother, Cassie Cea, has since obtained a restraining order against Rayudu, to protect her family.

Rayudu was allegedly asking the child strange questions about their family and had visited her neighborhood several times before the break-in.

According to charging documents, Rayudu walked into the family’s home while wearing gloves, identified himself as the girl’s bus driver, and asked for Cea.

The driver reportedly told Cea that he was there to see her, even though schools were closed that day for Presidents Day. When Cea asked Rayudu what he was doing in her house, he fled. The daughter was at camp at the time and was not at home.

Cea later spoke with her neighborhood security officer, who revealed that Rayudu had visited the area several times the previous month asking for her daughter. She described him as her “special friend” and that Rayudu had changed her bus seat so he could see and talk to her.

Cea reported that Rayudu had been the bus driver for about two months. Cea expressed concern about the situation, saying that she did not know what this obsession was with her daughter and what could have happened if she was not present.

The district refused to give Cea the bus driver’s name when she called to report the incident. Cea told The Journal-Constitution that her kid would never get on a bus again, and she did not know if she wanted her in public school anymore, as she felt the school’s response was inadequate.

The district stated that it is cooperating with the police investigation and that “the safety of our students is our number one priority.” Two other Cobb County School District bus drivers have been charged with crimes in recent years.

One driver was charged with molesting two adult victims and one minor victim in 2022, and another driver was arrested for assaulting a student in 2021.
