Kiarra Gordon was killed in the fatal accident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday in Sanders, Arizona.

Nineteen Holbrook Indian School children and staff members were on the bus when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer near Sanders on Interstate 40, according to the State Department of Public Safety.

The students and faculty of Holbrook Indian School were traveling to Window Rock, the capital of the Navajo Nation.

DPS officials stated that earlier in the day there had been a rollover collision and that morning traffic on the roadway had been moving more slowly than usual.

This is a very sad day for the Holbrook Indian School community, according to a statement from the school.

“Our first worries are for our parents and relatives as we mourn alongside them.” We need your patience and respect as we work through this as a school community, and we ask for your prayers on behalf of all those affected by this tragedy.’

Falonna Ashley, the aunt of Gordon, stated that her niece, who was from the Navajo Nation hamlet of Wide Ruins, adored animals and volleyball.

She stated that she possessed a beautiful soul.

Her niece’s birthday had recently occurred last month.
