Ann Phillips’ 3-year term begins 1 September 2022


Ann Phillips has been selected by the Secretary of State for a three-year term beginning on September 1, 2022.

An attorney with over 30 years of expertise in the field of charity law and practise is Ann Phillips.

She works with Stone King LLP as a consultant. She worked as a partner at Stone King LLP for over 20 years until becoming a consultant in 2020. From 2014 to 2020, she served as the company’s chair.

Ann served as the Charity Law Association’s Chair from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, she was a long-time member of the Executive Committee, where she helped with the committee’s work on new developments in charity law and related areas.

She has served in a variety of volunteer capacities, including trusteeships for charities.

Code of Compensation and Governance

Members of the Charity Commission board are paid £350 a day for about 24 days per year.

The Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments has been followed in making this appointment.

The Commissioner for Public Appointments oversees the appointment procedure.

Any major political activity that an appointee has engaged in during the last five years must be disclosed in accordance with the Code.

This is outlined as includes holding office, speaking in front of an audience, making a recordable gift, and running for office. Ann Phillips has said she hasn’t engaged in much political activities.
