AKA memorial service: how to observe it in REAL-TIME

On Friday, 17 February, those who wish to follow the memorial service for deceased South African singer Kiernan “AKA” Forbes can do so by clicking on a YouTube link (below).

On Tuesday, online tickets for the memorial ceremony sold out within hours.

Following confirmation from his family that a memorial service will be conducted at the Sandton Convention Centre at 15:00 on Friday, WebTickets made a limited number of tickets available.

However, three hours later, “sold out” signs were up due to the public’s demand to attend.

The 35-year-old rapper will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Saturday, 18 February.

The family of AKA posted a message on Twitter outlining the funeral and memorial ceremony, which, unlike the funeral, will be accessible to the public.

As widely reported by The South African website, AKA was shot and killed outside the Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban late on Friday night.

On the night he was murdered, the 35-year-old rapper was scheduled to play at a Durban nightclub called Yugo as part of his birthday celebrations.

Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, his previous manager, was also slain in the shooting.

The police are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
