RIP Siyabonga Zubane: Memorial service details for ‘Gomora’ star

Late actor Siyabonga Zubane was most popular for his role as Sdumo on Gomora. His memorial service will be held at the Joburg Theatre on Thursday 12 May. The memorial service will take place between 14:00 – 17:00.

Writer and actor Chris Q Radebe, just like the executive producer of the show Lungelwa Hela, have been having a hard time processing the actor’s death.

“It’s 21h45 and Lulu hasn’t called me again to say it was all a mistake and that Siyabonga is perfectly fine,” he wrote.

“I’m still hoping I’ll get that call, so I will not talk about Siyabonga in the past tense. I refuse to accept that this charismatic, sweet-talking, naturally gifted young man truly has departed this world,” he continued.

HOW DID THE ‘GOMORA’ STAR DIE?

Sunday World reported that Siyabonga Zubane was confirmed to have taken his own life – but the family of the actor tell Drum they are still awaiting the post mortem results. The family also say that there were “no signs” of suicide. He was said to be found in bed unresponsive at his rental Soweto home.

A post mortem is an examination of the body after death with the aim of finding the cause of death.

“We don’t really know if it was suicide, but there are no signs. We are still waiting for the postmortem. He was found him in bed nonresponsive,” said his aunt to Drum.

“They phoned us and took him to the hospital this morning and we are still waiting for a report,” she continued.
