After only one season, Netflix has decided to cancel The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself.

The streaming service has terminated the British fantasy drama series less than a month after its debut.

“Unfortunately, yes, Netflix has canceled [the program],” tweeted series creator Joe Barton. “Very happy of it, and I enjoyed working with the others on it. Sorry, I cannot complete the narrative.”

Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Colm McCarthy, Phil Tennant, and Phil Robertson served as executive producers alongside Barton. Producers were Adrian Sturges and Steve Clarke-Hall.

The show’s British producer, Imaginarium, originally tweeted the news. “Half Bad is a show of which we are immensely proud, as it has garnered rave reviews and a devoted global fanbase. While we are disappointed that the story will not continue, we have enjoyed working with with a wonderful cast and crew on our favorite show.”

Based on Sally Green’s young adult novel Half Bad, the series follows Nathan Byrne (Jay Lycurgo), the illegitimate son of a dangerous witch (David Gyasi), as he struggles to overcome the chances of following in his father’s footsteps while discovering his true identity alongside his pals.
