A man has been arrested after a car was abandoned at Gatwick Airport causing police to launch an evacuation

A cordon was established, according to Sussex Police, who also described the incident as “ongoing.”

A guy was detained at the airport, according to a Sussex Police spokesman.

We are currently attending to an issue at Gatwick Airport, the official stated.

“A man was taken into custody.”

“A cordon is in place at the drop-off parking lot at the North Terminal as a precaution,” it says.

From right after Junction 9, there are backups of traffic due to the incident on Spur Rd, which is part of the M23.

One traveler who was there tweeted to Gatwick Airport to request assistance: “Chaos, is there any chance you might at least provide the local personnel with information?” Presently, not so good.

Someone else wrote: “Incident? There are no shuttles that go from the south terminal to the north terminal. There was a long line of worried people here, but no officials could be seen. Please let us know.

‘Abandoned automobile causes congestion at Gatwick Airport,’ another person remarked.
