A Ferrari driver, Richard Cullen, expressed his concern over the limited transportation options available to him after having his driving licence taken away.
Reports state that Mr. Cullen was banned from driving following a car accident in Romsley, Worcestershire, where he lost control of his vehicle and caused a five-car collision.
According to BirminghamLive, the 50-year-old claimed that he accidentally hit the accelerator, leading to the collision that occurred last year.
During his hearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, Mr. Cullen admitted to careless driving and failing to stop after a road accident. However, he contested the charges against him, saying that he only did so due to aggressive witnesses.
Mr. Cullen was fined £10,069 based on his means, ordered to pay £185 in costs, and a £190 victim surcharge.
In Mr. Cullen’s defence, his lawyer, Jason Aris, argued that he would have difficulty running his businesses without his licence. He added that Mr. Cullen’s dependence on driving would make him struggle significantly during work hours, as he would have to employ drivers and use taxis and Ubers, which would come at a considerable expense.
District Judge Michelle Smith ruled that Mr. Cullen should pay £10,069 in fines based on his means and ordered him to pay £185 in costs.
