A barbaric fishermen carved a homophobic inscription into a dolphin’s side.

‘Barbaric’ Environmental activists who call for stricter fishing regulations claim that French fisherman have carved a homophobic epithet onto the side of a dolphin.

The animals washed ashore in Les Sables d’Olonnes on the country’s west coast, according to ocean protection Charity Sea Shepherd France.

The conservation organization posted graphic pictures of the terrible assault online, including carvings of the incorrect spelling of “Sea Sheperd” and the abbreviation “PD” (pédé), a slur used disparagingly in French for gay men.

On Sunday, the group displayed the dolphins’ bodies in front of a stunned gathering of onlookers, including young children, near the historic harbor in La Rochelle.

Stop the overfishing, Sea Shepherd said in a tweet. Consume fewer seafood. Protect the ocean. And the next generation.

What a tragedy for the entire profession that they degrade, they said in a statement to the Telegraph.

“There is carnage.” Unless there are effective ways to conserve these dolphins, we won’t give up.

The group has filed a complaint for the mutilation of a protected species and asked for an investigation into the attacks.

That happens amid continuing hostilities between the group and the fishermen for access to the Bay of Biscay for fishing. The attacks on the dolphins, according to Sea Shepherd, are in response to their calls for less fishing.

According to Sea Shepherd, commercial fishing trawlers and fishing boats kill 6,000 dolphins on France’s west coast every year.

In order to determine how many people unintentionally get trapped in fishing nets, the organization is requesting that the government close the locations where they are most at risk for four months.

Bylaw requires French fisherman to declare them, often known as “bycatch.”

Nevertheless, according to the group’s attorney, the majority are not actually acknowledged.

Only 30 dolphins were counted as bycatch out of the 370 that had washed ashore since December.

Six mutiliated dolphins were discovered on French beaches in January of this year, prompting the Charity to submit a complaint.

President of Sea Shepherd France, Layma Essemlali, stated: “Dead dolphins caught in fishing gear are constantly being thrown up in the sea.”

When the latter are mangled, they have either been eaten or are the victims of an attempt to sink them in order to cover up the evidence of capture, according to the statement.

Since 1977, Sea Shepherd has worked “actively and non-violently” to stop unauthorized attacks on marine ecosystems. Sea Shepherd is an ocean defense Organisation.

For the past six years, they have been scouring the oceans to collect information and spread awareness about the frequency of dolphin homicides.
