2 youths die in New York after crashing into electrical wires

According to police, two teenagers who exited a pickup truck that crashed into a downed tree in upstate New York and made contact with live wires perished.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, the two 17-year-olds were among four adolescents in a pickup that struck a storm-downed tree in the town of Redfield some 40 miles northeast of Syracuse on Wednesday night.

Four adolescents exited the vehicle, which had ended up in a ditch. According to the sheriff, the driver, Madysen Young, and passenger, Matthew Bice, made contact with live wires entangled in the fell tree and were declared dead at the site.

Two lads aged 16 survived.

WSTM reports that hundreds of people attended a vigil for victims on Thursday evening. Bice graduated from Pulaski High School and planned to join the Salmon River Ice Hockey Association in the autumn. According to vigil attendees, Bice and Young were pals.

The event is now being investigated.
