Two teens killed after touching live wires

According to authorities, two adolescents who were ejected from a pickup vehicle that struck a felled tree in upstate New York perished after touching live wires.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, the two 17-year-olds were two of four adolescents in a vehicle that struck a storm-damaged tree Wednesday night in the town of Redfield, roughly 40 miles northeast of Syracuse.

The vehicle stopped in a ditch, and the four teenagers got out. According to the sheriff, the vehicle’s Madysen Young and passenger Matthew Bice collided with live wires caught in the felled tree and were both declared dead at the spot.

Two lads, both 16 years old, lived.

WSTM reported that a vigil for the victims was held by hundreds of people on Thursday night. Following his graduation from Pulaski High School, Bice signed a contract with the Salmon River Ice Hockey Association to play hockey this autumn. The station was informed by attendees of the vigil that Bice and Young were pals.

The situation is being looked into.
