13-year-old dies when taxi collides with COW — COW survives collision

A cab struck a cow on the P100 in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday, January 29, killing a 13-year-old child.

At around 18:01, passing cars contacted the local security firm Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) to request help at the scene.

RUSA members came to discover Provincial Ambulance Service personnel there.

It was established that the white Toyota Quantum struck a cow before veering into the other lane.

The cab hit with a metal barrier, tearing off the vehicle’s sliding door and ejecting the teenager.

In addition to two fatalities, a three-year-old was airlifted following a tragic N3 cab accident.

The driver thereafter departed the scene.

While driving, he was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

Six additional youngsters were sent to a private medical institution with minor to moderate injuries.

The 13-year-old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.

According to reports, the driver was transporting the youngsters to a family member’s residence at the time of the accident.

The cow had minor injuries and fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency responders.
