10-year-old girl kidnapped on route to school by masked man

On her way to school, a 10-year-old girl was reportedly grabbed about the waist by a masked guy who then attempted to take her away.

The kid was able to get away because she “kicked out and yelled,” which made the perpetrator flee.

The youngster’s school alerted parents after the alleged abuse allegedly occurred on Tuesday morning in Great Barr, North-West Birmingham.

Arena Academy said that one of its students had been taken by a “man wearing a balaclava” who was “clad in all black.”

The youngster was “grabbed by a guy as she made her way to school,” according to a West Midlands Police spokeswoman, and it occurred on the “grassy area in Sandy Lane, near Booths Lane, in Great Barr, around 8.15am.”

He claimed: “A guy tried to pull the girl by grabbing her about the waist from behind. The perpetrator fled when she kicked out and shouted.

He is characterized as being tall and lean, and perhaps 20 years old. He was dressed in full black, including his headgear, gloves, large black boots, and mask, which was made of mesh. He had a black knapsack on his person.

The little girl had “bravely” provided a statement to help the police investigation, the spokesperson said, adding that she was secure and receiving care despite being “understandably disturbed.”

In the notice sent to parents on Tuesday, Arena Academy’s deputy head Claire Kilroy said that they were made aware of an incident that morning involving one of their pupils.

Anyone wanting for further information or someone to speak to about it is advised to email her or phone the police at (916) 101, according to the woman, who also claimed that the police were involved and that the school was in contact with them.

West Midlands Police encouraged anybody who was in the area and could have seen the individual described to contact them. The police is searching through CCTV and conducting continuing investigations, the spokesperson for the force added.

He continued by saying that while events like this were thankfully very uncommon, patrols had been enhanced, and the school had been given assurances and guidance.
