10 dead, 15 wounded in Canada stabbings

In one of the greatest mass murders in Canadian history, two suspects are alleged to have stabbed 10 people to death in an Indigenous settlement and a nearby town. Canadian police combed the vast region of Saskatchewan for the suspects.

During the series of knife attacks that prompted the James Smith Cree Nation to declare a state of emergency and scared inhabitants of the neighbouring community of Weldon, 15 individuals were hurt.

“No one in this city will ever sleep again. Ruby Works, a resident of Weldon who is close to one of the victims, stated, “They’ll be frightened to answer their door.”

The incidents occurred at thirteen different locations throughout the James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The RCMP stated that they are searching for Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, in connection with the stabbings. Damien Sanderson was described as being 5’7 “weighing approximately 155 pounds. According to police, Myles Sanderson is 6 feet 1 inch tall “about 200 pounds. They may be driving a black Nissan Rogue, according to the police.

RCMP Saskatchewan Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore stated that some of the victims appear to have been targeted by the suspects, while others appear to have been attacked at random. She was unable to identify a motive.

“Today’s events in our province are horrifying,” Blackmore stated.

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau tweeted, “Today’s atrocities in Saskatchewan are horrifying and tragic. I am thinking about people who have lost loved ones and those who have been hurt.”

Blackmore stated that police began getting reports of stabbings in the First Nation community before 6 a.m. Police issued a warning at noon that a vehicle containing the two suspects had apparently been observed in Regina.

The suspects were last spotted by the public about midday, according to police. There have been no subsequent sightings.

Later Sunday evening, Regina police chief Evan Bray reported that the suspects were still at large and that police “continue to believe the suspects are likely in the city of Regina.”

“If you are in the Regina region, take precautions and consider seeking shelter indoors. Never leave a safe spot. NOT TO APPROACH strange individuals. Avoid picking up hitchhikers. Call 9-1-1 to report suspicious persons, crises, or information. Do not expose police locations, “The RCMP stated in a Twitter message.

Diane Shier, a resident of Weldon, was in her garden on Sunday morning when she spotted emergency personnel a few blocks away.

Shier reported that her neighbor, who lived with his grandson, was murdered. She wished to conceal the victim’s identity out of respect for his family.

She said, “I am quite upset since I lost a dear neighbor.”

The search for suspects was conducted as people arrived on Regina for a sold-out annual Labour Day game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

The Regina Police Service stated in a news release that, with the assistance of Mounties, it was working on multiple fronts to locate and apprehend the suspects and had already made several arrests “The city as a whole, including the football game at Mosaic Stadium, was provided with additional public safety personnel.

As the two suspects remained at large, the RCMP in Melfort, Saskatchewan increased the notice to include Manitoba and Alberta several hours later.

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, many individuals are being treated at multiple locations.

Anne Linemann, a spokesperson for the authority, said in an email, “A call for more staff was made to respond to the surge of injuries.”

Mark Oddan, spokesman for STARS Air Ambulance, stated that two helicopters from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and one from Regina were despatched.

Two of the ambulances transported patients to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, while the third transported a patient from a hospital near Weldon to Royal University.

Oddan stated that, due to privacy rules, he could not provide their ages, genders, or conditions.
