Zwane will focus on Chiefs’ players he already has

Johannesburg — Arthur Zwane is generally satisfied with the quality and quantity of personnel at his disposal, and he has stated that the Kaizer Chiefs will examine fresh additions in January.

Last season, following a seven-year trophy drought, the Chiefs decided to hit the reset button by naming club legend Zwane as their new coach.

The Chiefs supported Zwane’s appointment by signing ten new players, including the promotion of Mduduzi Shabalala from the reserves.

New arrivals are Yusuf Maart and Edmilson Dove, while leaders Bernard Parker and Ramahlwe Mphahlele have been released.

Due to the addition of new players and the departure of veterans, the Chiefs have had a lackluster start to the season, as they are currently in the bottom half of the standings with seven points.

This beginning has elicited a range of responses from their supporters, with some recognizing that it’s a rebuilding phase and others desiring Zwane’s departure.

However, “10111” has pleaded with their followers to support the team and its existing roster as they continue to work on combinations.

“When you are looking for combinations, you avoid panic (purchasing),” Zwane told the media after Saturday night’s 0-0 home tie with AmaZulu.

“If you bring in players while you’re experimenting with different combinations, you may not get it right. Therefore, we must do our best with the guys we already have.

In terms of the next window in January, three months are barely around the horizon. I believe this will allow us to determine where we need to make improvements.

“However, I believe we currently have adequate coverage for all positions. Two or three players occupy a position. And I believe that will benefit our future.”

At FNB, Chiefs may have played their finest football against Usuthu. But their sloppy play in front of the net, which included missing a penalty, cost them the game.

But Zwane did not lose his composure after the tie, praising his team’s efforts and conceding that they have room for improvement.

“In training, the decision-making process involves a great deal of work. It will turn out right… “However, the lads are reacting favorably,” added Zwane.

Chiefs will play on Sunday when they go to Royal Bafokeng to face the controversial Marumo Gallants, whose coach is rumored to have left.

Prior to their back-to-back matchups against AmaZulu in the MTN8 semi-final, they will enter this game knowing they must improve their finishing.

Up front, Keegan Dolly and Khama Billiat have not been at their best. They believe, though, that their new striker, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, can reignite their offense.

“Players will always use their own discretion, and we’ll always enable them to do so, since the game is a teacher,” remarked the coach from the Meadowlands.

“Today we may have capitalized on opportunities and made better decisions. However, we were not as clinical during these instances.

“However, we can only gain knowledge from this game and the opportunities we made. However, we will improve with time. Additionally, Yusuf returned for today’s game.”
