Zac Efron calls Marvel about Wolverine part

Zac Efron insisted that Marvel executives contact him over rumors linking him to the part of X-Men superhero Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine in a series of “X-Men” films and other stand-alone films since the year 2000, and he will reprise the role in the next film “Deadpool 3.”

When “Wolverine” and the “X-Men” enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, there have been rumors that a different actor will play the part.

During a visit on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Efron was asked about rumors he could be the next Wolverine, and he responded: “Surely? Wow, they could simply contact me. I’ve got to give it to Hugh, I believe he’s still doing a decent job.”

The presenter then pressed further, pointing out that Efron, who co-starred with Jackman in “The Greatest Showman,” already knew the actor, to which Efron responded, “I think I already have a foot in the door, I should go talk to him.”

The “High School Musical” actor then quipped that he would have to grow a full beard like Fallon’s, prompting the host to offer to shave it off and give it to him to save him time.

Prior to Will Poulter’s casting as the Marvel character Adam Warlock, Efron was said to be up for the role of The Human Torch in a “Fantastic Four” film.
