President Yoon Suk-yeol said Wednesday that security conditions are difficult amid talk of a probable North Korean nuclear test, and that the situation should be closely monitored.
After taking office the day before, Yoon made the comment during his first meeting with his senior secretaries.
He stated, “The security situation is difficult.” “Foreign countries are concerned, and there has been discussion of restarting nuclear tests, so I believe you will need to closely monitor and examine the consequences, not only on security but also on other areas of state affairs, if such a situation emerges.”
Yoon also stated that the economy is in a dire position, with inflation being the most serious issue.
“We will have to look hard at the causes of rising inflation and the measures needed to curb them,” he said.
Yoon also called for quickly compensating small merchants hit by COVID-19 business restrictions.
