A woman has been arrested in connection with the alleged robbery of a partially blind elderly man at an ATM in a shopping centre in Sydney’s west.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 19, when the 72-year-old man was waiting for staff to assist him at the Mt Druitt shopping centre.
Due to his visual impairment, he needed help withdrawing money from the ATM.
While waiting, a 24-year-old woman allegedly approached him and offered to help him.
However, police allege that during the transaction, she withdrew a larger amount of money than requested and then fled the scene.
Following the incident, police launched a public appeal for information about the woman involved.
On Friday, NSW Police confirmed that a woman had been arrested and was assisting with inquiries at Mt Druitt Police Station.
The woman has not been named.
