Robbery Suspects Arrested after robbing a woman as she returned home in Zwelisha, KZN

Three criminals were apprehended by an off-duty police officer and members of the community after robbing a woman as she returned home in Zwelisha, KZN, this afternoon (Saturday).

When the 29-year-old domestic worker was walking down Tottenham Road in Riet River, she observed three men standing on the sidewalk. As she approached, they greeted her.

While his two companions attempted to capture her, one of the males brandished a knife. The woman dropped her Hisense phone on the road and ran to an adjacent tuckshop, where she sought help from a Greenwood Park SAPS off-duty officer. The Officer pursued the robbers on foot with the help of the neighborhood.

At approximately 15:55, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) got a call for assistance from a passerby who had witnessed the chase. When Reaction Officers arrived, they learned that all three suspects had been captured. The victim’s cellphone, a knife, and ATM cards were discovered, all of which were believed to have been stolen in a different crime.

The robbers were apprehended and held at the Verulam SAPS station.
