Even “stupid reporters” are not protected from The View’s comments. After asking New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin if they had recently met due to their “similar ages,” a male reporter was reprimanded by the panel for his “dumb question.”
After viewing the video footage, co-host Joy Behar criticized the reporter for asking “the dumbest” and “most irrelevant question ever posed to a Prime Minister.”
Meanwhile, Ana Navarro remarked, “It was almost as if he were asking, ‘So, do you two go get pedicures together?’” Are you lunching ladies?’” Behar said, “Are you going to see Taylor Swift this year?”
Alyssa Farah Griffin continued by calling the inquiry “cringe” and pointing out that while the reporter stated, “We’re all wondering,” no one was actually inquiring.
She went on to say, “We continue to be so reductive towards women.” “It seems unlikely that they are discussing national defense or international affairs. They are, presumably, swapping recipes. I cannot think we will be doing this in 2022.”
Behar reminded her co-host that there are “stupid reporters everywhere” while Hostin was more “surprised” that people in other nations would ask such an idiotic question, citing better representation and more women in authority elsewhere than in the United States.
Whoopi Goldberg concluded the episode by stating that it is “terrible” that we must explain that “women are persons” and that as parents, “we must do a better job educating guys.” She was at a loss on what to say about the reporter, but she said, “They shouldn’t fire him; they should simply educate his arse.”
