Who is Julian Knight? A Look into the Career and Scandal of the Solihull MP

…By Lola Smith for TDPel Media.

New allegations of sexual misconduct have emerged against Julian Knight, the independent MP for Solihull.

According to the BBC, five different women and a third-party witness had previously raised complaints about him.

Some of the allegations stated that Knight contacted women on social media, offering career support before becoming inappropriate with them.

The latest allegations came after Knight had announced his decision to step down from his position as an MP at the next general election after he failed to have his Tory whip restored following previous allegations against him.

Julian Knight, 51, is a former journalist who became a politician.

He studied history at the University of Hull before moving to London to pursue a career in journalism.

Knight was the BBC’s personal finance and consumer affairs reporter for five years before leaving in 2007 to become The Independent on Sunday’s Money and Property Editor.

In 2014, he became the Conservative candidate for Solihull, winning the seat at the 2015 General Election and remaining Solihull’s MP since then.

Knight has also served as the Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Ministry of Justice and the Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy to Mongolia.

In December 2022, Knight was suspended after a complaint about him was made to the Met about alleged sexual assault.

Although Knight denied the allegations, the Conservative party never reinstated his whip.

Therefore, he is currently an independent MP.
