White teacher who called his race “superior” loses job

Monday, school officials confirmed that a white middle school teacher who was captured on video telling Black students that he believes his race is “superior” no longer works at the school.

Pflugerville Independent School District Superintendent Douglas Killian said in a statement, “On Friday, November 11, Pflugerville ISD officials were made aware of an inappropriate conversation a teacher at Bohls Middle School had with students during an advisory class.” “As of Monday morning, November 14th, the teacher in question is no longer employed by the Pflugerville Independent School District, and we are actively searching for a replacement.”

The unidentified teacher was captured on a viral video saying to a classroom full of Black students, “Deep in my heart, I am ethnocentric, which means I believe my race is superior to others.”

“I believe everyone believes that,” the instructor continued. They are simply dishonest about it.

When a student asked if he is racist, the teacher responded, “I believe everyone at that level is racist.” A Black student then tells the instructor that he no longer respects him in a direct manner.

Killian apologized to parents for any “stress” caused by the video and stated that the statements made by the former teacher do not reflect the “core beliefs” of the school district.

Killian stated, “We want to reiterate that this conversation does not align with our core beliefs and does not represent our district or Bohls Middle School’s culture.” Staff from Pflugerville ISD and Bohls Middle School collaborate to create a welcoming environment for all of our students.

Killian added, “This type of interaction will not be tolerated in any PfISD schools because it was inappropriate, inaccurate, and unacceptable.”
