WAM delegation visits media establishments in Italy and Switzerland, signs two cooperation agreements

ROME/MILAN/LUGANO, 16th June, 2022 (WAM) — An Emirates News Agency (WAM) delegation visited several media establishments in Italy and Switzerland to promote cooperation in news exchange.

The visit is part of WAM’s keenness to create partnerships with media outlets in Italy and Switzerland, develop a sustainable model of constructive cooperation and partnership in media and build a wide network of strategic work relations with regional and international media players, as the UAE is gearing up to host the Global Media Congress in Abu Dhabi next November.

While in Italy, the delegation visited the headquarters of Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (ANSA) where the two sides discussed the outcomes of the cooperation agreement for news exchange signed between the two agencies last November.

The WAM delegation then visited the headquarters of the Agenzia Nova in Rome, where the two sides signed a cooperation agreement to promote joint cooperation in news exchange.

WAM signed another cooperation agreement during a visit to Adnkronos news agency’s headquarters.

Furthermore, the delegation also visited several media outlets in Italy including the News General Directorate of Mediaset, the largest commercial broadcaster in the country, and Sky TG24, Italian 24-hours television news channel.

In Switzerland, WAM delegation visited the headquarters of the daily Swiss newspaper Corriere del Ticino and Ticino On Line (TIO), where the sides discussed the framework for joint cooperation in news exchange to highlight development achievements in both countries.

Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to establish a developed and sustainable model of cooperation with the brotherly and friendly countries, in a way that supports development paths in societies, and contributes to achieving the UAE’s global leadership in all fields.

Mohammed Al Rayssi said the visit had opened up wider horizons for joint cooperation with Italian and Swiss media establishments given the fact that the two European countries have advanced media ecosystems. There is a promising opportunity to build media partnerships with our counterparts in these countries, he added.

He invited media outlets in Italy and Switzerland to attend the Global Media Congress, which will gather a galaxy of international media industry leaders and influencers in addition to academics, youth and university students. The Congress also provides an inspiring platform to spotlight the current state of media in the region and world and crystalise a vision for the future of media.
