ABU DHABI, 16th August, 2022 (WAM) — Accelerated digital adoption is one of the most effective ways to ensure that traditional news and media organisations can remain trustworthy and relevant, Dr. Mark van Rijmenam says.

“Media organisations must ensure their teams keep pace with these industry innovations, or they risk falling behind the pace of the digital revolution,” he writes in an article published in Datafloq, an online publication based in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Datafloq offers information, insights and opportunities to drive innovation with big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

“Some news organisations are nonetheless carving out the space to lead this change, both from within and in partnership with academia,” he said, adding that the Emirates News Agency (WAM) recently entered into a strategic partnership with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).

“Their collaboration, in advance of November’s Global Media Congress, will directly focus on cooperation between media and AI, with dedicated seats for WAM staff on MBZUAI’s Executive Programme, and the planned establishment of an in-house WAM AI Lab.”

Dr. Rijmenam is an international keynote speaker, 4x author, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Datafloq and the author of the book on the metaverse: Step into the Metaverse: How the Immersive Internet Will Unlock a Trillion-Dollar Social Economy detailing what the metaverse is and how organisations and consumers can benefit from the immersive internet.
