The infant displayed signs of diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain before passing away shortly after.

Five members of a family were reportedly brought to Shongwe Hospital after exhibiting the same symptoms.

The children are staying with their 23-year-old aunt, along with a 4-year-old girl, two 6- and 7-year-old boys, and a newborn.

While the rest of her family is receiving medical attention, a baby died from an unidentified infection.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a spokesman for the police, the children and their aunt had their regular dinner before getting unwell.

The infant unfortunately did not live after they were all rushed to the hospital.

The following day, their aunt received treatment and was let go from the hospital.
The hospital is still providing medical care to the other three kids.

According to Mohlala, the infection’s origin is still unknown.
To ascertain the reason for the infant’s demise and the source of the virus, a postmortem is performed and samples from the survivors are collected.

According to Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, families need to be careful about the food they eat.
She also requests that they look for expiration dates.
