Two men with connections to the Elite Fight Force training centre are fatally shot

Two men with connections to the Elite Fight Force training centre in western Sydney were fatally shot within days of each other. Taha Sabbagh, 40, was gunned down at the gym in a targeted attack after pulling up with his son for a boxing lesson.

Hillal Barbour, 29, was shot dead by police responding to a domestic violence call-out at a house in Yagoona. Members of both families are friends with the gym owners.

While treating the two shootings as separate incidents, Daily Mail Australia reports that the co-incidence could indicate the possibility of another gangland war. Although the owners and associates of the gym are not suspected of criminal activity, some of the gang members are known to train there.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith confirmed that Barbour was shot dead by the officers who responded to the call-out after he attacked them with knives, despite being tasered. Sabbagh, who was shot at least six times in front of his 12-year-old son, may have been the intended target of a case of mistaken identity or retribution for a kidnapping and torture case.

Daily Mail Australia reports that the Elite Fight Force gym is frequented by heavy crooks, and Sabbagh’s death may have been a warning sign to criminal gang members. A police source warns that the situation could get worse. Both shootings are under investigation.
