Tory PCC is awaiting sentence after caught speeding five times over 12 weeks

After being caught speeding five times in 12 weeks, a Tory Police and Crime Commissioner has vowed to crack down on reckless drivers.

Caroline Henry, Nottinghamshire’s PCC, pled guilty to the five offenses, all of which occurred after she was elected to her £76,000-a-year seat. Darren Henry, the Tory MP for Broxtowe, is her spouse.

Councillor Michael Edwards challenged Ms Henry about her commitment to tackling speeding during a meeting with Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Panel at County Hall.

She replied: ‘There is about 100,000 people in Nottinghamshire each year that break the speed limit and out of those 40,000 are entitled to a speeding awareness course.

‘As part of the next round of my community grants there will be an opportunity for people to bid in to do community speedwatch. I am absolutely committed to doing this.’

To dissuade speeding motorists, OAPs were equipped with radar guns and high-visibility gear.

The crime tsar has spoken out for the first time since appearing in front of Nottingham magistrates in early May on charges of speeding in several areas across the county in March, May, and June of last year.

Her speed was recorded as high as 40 mph in a 30 mph zone by speed cameras. In July, she will be sentenced.
