Former top cop Roy Ramm (pictured in 2017) said Notting Hill Carnival is 'safe for most people' but noted 'there is a time, always on the last day it seems, that it degenerates'

After she was flung onto the street by her hair, a man confronted her.

Following an argument, she slapped the man across the face. He replied with a blow to the face that knocked her to the ground.

A Notting Hill Carnival attendee slammed a woman to the ground during a confrontation that erupted on the penultimate day of the carnival, which police say “always seems to degrade” near its conclusion.

The woman was dragged off the sidewalk and onto the street while arguing with other partygoers, as evidenced by video footage. She is then challenged by a man who appears to be cursing and shaking his finger at her.

The video, which was published on Twitter on the last day of the event, illustrates only one of the numerous violent incidents that occurred during the two-day yearly festival held in west London.

A former Scotland Yard commander stated that Notting Hill Carnival is normally’safe for most people,’ but warned that on the final day, gang violence typically erupts.

Scotland Yard confirmed that 209 arrests were made at the event, 46 of which were for assault. At this year’s festival, at least 34 Metropolitan Police officers were assaulted.

Monday evening during Notting Hill Carnival, revelers applauded as a battle broke out, as evidenced by a video.

‘Yeah!’ As the woman was taken from the group by her hair, a bystander filming the fight could be heard yelling.

The filmmaker oohed and aahed and said, “Oh my God!” as she filmed the woman slapping the man.

When he responded with a punch, though, the reveler yelled, “No, no, no, no!” No way! No f*****g way.’

The woman was helped to her feet by another woman, likely a friend, as a group of men pushed the man away.

It is unknown whether the woman was wounded during the event or whether any of the parties involved will face charges.

This year, more than 200 individuals were arrested at the festival, which police ‘dread policing’ because violence traditionally escalates on the last day of the event.

The majority of individuals are safe. Sunday was a terrific day,’ former chief of police Roy Ramm told LBC on Tuesday morning.

Yesterday, for the majority of the day, the area was safe and well-policed. Over many years, police have learnt a great lot about how to police the carnival.

Former chief of police Roy Ramm (shown in 2017) stated that Notting Hill Carnival is “safe for most people” but that “it seems to degrade on the last day.”

‘But there is a point when it degenerates, usually on the last day it seems.

The drug dealers and gangs appear to reject the spirit of carnival and use the occasion to settle scores, establish territory, and brandish blades.

It is a tragedy, both for the family of the deceased young man and for the residents of Notting Hill.

Mr. Ramm remarked that the festival, which launched fifty years ago, had grown into an occasion for “young guys” to experience violence.

‘It began as a spontaneous celebration many years ago, and the cops have participated by dancing with the revelers,’ he explained. Seven thousand police officers were present that day; will fourteen thousand make a difference?

“The problem is that these young men, and they are young men, want to fight, establish their territory, and sell drugs.” They intend to destroy it in the evenings. I believe the community should reject this.

It is time for these young men’s families to place more pressure on their children to deter them from carrying knives outside the home.

Mr. Ramm further asserted that it is difficult for cops to ‘perform anything other than what they are now doing.’

The Met Police echoed Mr. Ramm’s remarks, stating that they hate policing the situation.

Annually, our valiant officers are assaulted at this occasion. Coworkers detest enforcing it. Still, nothing has changed,’ the force tweeted. At least 34 Metropolitan Police officers were assaulted at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, it is regrettable to learn.

These young men wish to engage in combat and establish their area.

Roy Ramm, a former chief of police, asserts that the Notting Hill Carnival is’safe for most people’ but warns that the last day frequently ‘degenerates’ into gang violence and that it is time for ‘the community’ to avoid this.

Monday evening crowds photographed beside a police truck as the Notting Hill Carnival in West London comes to a close.

Meanwhile, police detectives disclosed that there were a lot of violent occurrences and severe stabbings at this year’s festival.

Officers continue to search for the knifeman who fatally stabbed a 21-year-old man during the Notting Hill Carnival on Monday evening.

Officers administered first treatment to the man until paramedics arrived following the stabbing at 8 p.m. on Ladbroke Grove beneath the Westway flyover; he was then transported to an ambulance “through huge crowds and hard circumstances.”

Unidentified victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Met Police stated that his family has been notified and is receiving assistance from specialized officers.

Brian Stovell, a witness, told the Evening Standard, “I knew he wasn’t going to make it based on the amount of blood.” The majority of the crowd was captivated by the movement and energy of the carnival.

He also revealed efforts to save the man, adding, ‘One woman donned surgical gloves, but she was a civilian.’ And another distressed woman was in the circle; it appeared she had been with him.’

The newspaper also said that when policemen attempted to keep the throng away from the man receiving first aid, a lady could be heard yelling through the police line, “He’s a child!” Why are they doing that?

As police resumed their investigation on Tuesday, they issued a plea for any witnesses with video footage or other evidence, stating that “hundreds of people were in the local area when this incident occurred.”

At 9.30 p.m., police activated exceptional powers within the region in accordance with a Section 60 order, allowing them to stop and search anyone without suspicion for “dangerous instruments and offensive weapons” until 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

Monday night, around the time of the 8 p.m. stabbing on Ladbroke Grove in West London, officers were present.

Scotland Yard reported that as of 12:01 a.m. today, cops had made 209 arrests since the beginning of the carnival, including 46 for assault, eight for sexual assault, 36 for drug possession, five for criminal damage, and 27 for public order.

In addition, there were ten arrests for possession of psychoactive substances, thirty-three for possession of an offensive weapon, seven for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, one theft, one robbery, and thirty-five labeled as “other.”

While the exact number of arrests for this year’s carnival has not yet been announced, 353 were made during the 2019 event, compared to 374 in 2018, 313 in 2017, and 454 in 2016.

Monday’s stabbing is believed to be the first homicide at the Notting Hill Carnival since 2004, when Lee Christopher Subaran, 27, of Mill Hill, was fatally shot near Kensal Green Underground station.

13 steel bands, 72 mast bands, six Brazilian bands, 36 sound systems, and 300 stalls participated in the ‘Adults Day’ procession on the final day of the two-day festival, which officially concluded at 8.30 p.m. last night.
