During the Notting Hill festival, lady gave birth

Yesterday afternoon, a lady gave birth during the Notting Hill carnival before paramedics transported the mother and her baby kid to the hospital.

When a pregnant woman went into labour on a side street close to the biggest street festival in Europe, police sprung into action to assist her.

Prior to paramedics arriving and transporting the mother and child in an ambulance, the police could be seen soothing the lady.

‘We were contacted at 18.45 on Sunday, August 28 to reports of a person in labour inside the footprint of Notting Hill Carnival,’ a spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said.

“We treated an adult and a child at the spot and brought them to the hospital as a priority,” the statement reads.

MailOnline has requested an update on the mother and child’s health.

Today, Notting Hill Carnival returned for the first time in three years and went on for a second day.

This year’s event has 13 steel bands, 72 mast bands, 6 Brazilian bands, 36 sound systems, and 300 booths. Today is the “Adults Day Parade and Carnival,” lasting from 10.30am to 8.30pm.

Around 1,000 people attended the carnival’s first event in 1966, and it quickly gained notoriety for its celebration of Afro-Caribbean customs.

The official Notting Hill Carnival procession was started yesterday by members of the Emancipated Run Crew, who were wearing green as a symbol of respect for the Grenfell victims.
