The toss between England and the Proteas is postpone owing to rain.

Before the second One-Day International (ODI) between England and the Proteas at Old Trafford in Manchester, the toss has been postponed owing to rain.

Ben Stokes, the all-around talisman for England who withdrew from ODI cricket, was partially bid farewell by the cricketing world on Tuesday, but South Africa got off to a flying start in their all-format tour of the UK in 2022 with a decisive 62-run victory at Chester-le Street.

It was the first of three one-day internationals that would be played before a series of five T20I matches and three tests later on in the month.

The teams now go to Manchester’s revered Old Trafford stadium, where the visitors hope to build on their 2-1 head-to-head record at this location and increase their advantage in the series.

Athletes to watch

Liam Livingstone, an all-around force for England, has a 30.28 ODI average overall with the bat, but over his last five innings, that average has dropped to just 14.80.

Express seamer Anrich Nortje took four wickets in the first ODI, his second career high, and started to improve his terrible away bowling average, which is currently a whopping 44.80.
