The Queen has approved the following appointment

The Right Reverend Dr. Eleanor Sanderson, Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Wellington, has been nominated by the Queen to succeed

The Right Reverend Alison White as Suffragan Bishop of Hull in the Diocese of York.

Background

Eleanor received her education at Bristol University, Otago University, and the University of Wellington in New Zealand.

In 2006, she was consecrated as a Priest after completing her training for ordained ministry in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia.

To date, Eleanor has only served in New Zealand as an ordained minister. After serving in the Northland Wilton parish, she was appointed Canon in Residence at Wellington Cathedral in 2007.

In 2013, she was named Vicar of the Parish of Eastbourne, and she also worked as the Anglican Wellesley College Chaplain.

She was appointed Fellow for Public Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary’s Centre for Anglican Communion Studies in 2014.

Eleanor was appointed to her current position in the Wellington Diocese as Assistant Bishop in 2017.
