The process used to recover a stolen Toyota Fortuner

After being quickly apprehended, a suspect’s attempt to sell a stolen Toyota Fortuner at a dealership in Randburg failed.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit detained the 53-year-old male suspect in Newlands, Randburg, for possessing a stolen Toyota Fortuner.

According to JMPD spokeswoman Xolani Fihla, on July 23, 2022, while conducting crime prevention patrols, officers learned via TrackerSA that a white Toyota Fortuner had been taken in connection with the Norwood SAPS investigation.

Officers went to the scene of the stolen automobile and discovered a man trying to sell it at a dealership on Main Road in Newlands, the officer said.

“The Florida SAPS detained the male suspect after his arrest. He will show up in court as soon as possible, Fihla continued.

He further stated that the stolen car had been impounded and checked in at the SAPS Lenasia pound.

An further man suspect who was in Mulbarton and in possession of a stolen car was apprehended before this one.

A SECOND TOYOTA VEHICLE HAS BEEN FOUND

At around 22:00 on Friday, July 22, 2022, officers got a lookout for a white Toyota Hilux that had been taken over earlier in the day.
The Broads Street in Mulbarton was where the vehicle’s tracking signal was found.

When authorities arrived at the specified location, the building was searched, and the car was found in the garage.

The cops’ additional knowledge allowed them to make the male suspect a target for arrest. He was being held at the Mondeor Police Station, according to Fihla.

He added that the 55-year-old man is accused of having a hijacked vehicle in his hands.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit and the SAPS Johannesburg K9 Unit in Mulbarton worked together to make this arrest.
