In a commendable operation, the Kano State Police Command has successfully arrested five individuals suspected of theft and managed to recover a substantial haul of stolen property.

The recovered items include an impressive tally of 996 stolen mobile phones, along with nine laptop computers, ATM cards, and various other accessories.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, officially announced these developments in a statement released on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Break-In at Dansulaika GSM Market

One of the suspects, Ibrahim Adamu, stands accused of breaking into eleven shops situated at Dansulaika GSM Market, where he pilfered mobile phones, desktop and laptop computers, sales revenue, ATM cards, and assorted accessories.

The unlawful activities prompted a swift response from a dedicated team of detectives, who embarked on an intelligence-led operation.

This operation ultimately culminated in the successful apprehension of Ibrahim Adamu at Sallari Quarters, located in the Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano.

Confession and Recovery of Stolen Property

Significantly, Ibrahim Adamu confessed to committing the offenses on his own and, in a cooperative effort with law enforcement, led detectives to the recovery of a portion of the stolen items.

This included the retrieval of 106 mobile phones, nine laptop computers, a sum of N115,940 in sales revenue, nine ATM cards, and various other accessories.

As the investigation continues, it is anticipated that legal action will be taken against the suspect.

Involvement of a Sales Boy

In a separate but related case, the police also apprehended a 19-year-old sales boy named Mujittafa Sale, who was involved in a theft conspiracy with an individual named Ahmed Abbati.

Their illicit activities centered around stealing numerous brands of mobile phones and other related accessories from the shop where Mujittafa Sale was employed.

During the course of the investigation, Mujittafa Sale openly confessed to his role in the criminal activity.

His confession subsequently led to the identification and arrest of three additional suspects who were instrumental in concealing the stolen mobile phones.

Recovery of Stolen Property

As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement managed to recover a significant haul of stolen property, amounting to a total of eight hundred and ninety (890) mobile phones.

These electronic devices were retrieved from the four suspects implicated in the theft.
