The International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Dr Naledi Pandor, has undertaken an official visit to attend the 41st Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU)

Dr. Naledi Pandor, the minister of international relations and cooperation, has travelled on business to attend the 41st Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU).

The two-day summit is set to begin today in Lusaka, Zambia, according to the department.

The budget for the continental union for 2023 will be discussed and taken into consideration at the Executive Council Session, which is comprised of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the AU Member States.

According to the department, the meeting will also discuss the reports of the Ministerial Committee on African Candidatures within the International System, the Committee of Fifteen Finance Ministers, and the Joint Ministerial Committee on Scale of Assessment and Contributions.

The Ministerial Follow-up Committee on the Implementation of Agenda 2063 report will also be examined by the delegates.

The endorsement of the draft agenda for the Fourth Mid-Year Coordination Meeting between the Bureau of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government and the Chairpersons of the Regional Economic Communities, slated for Sunday, July 17, 2022, will also be discussed during the two-day meeting.

“President Cyril Ramaphosa was asked to give an update on the COVID-19 situation in Africa in his capacity as the African Union Champion for the pandemic response on the continent. Minister Pandor will represent President Ramaphosa, the department announced. –
