The ex-convict on parole who shot and murdered two maternity ward nurses near the delivery rooms at Methodist Dallas Medical Center on Saturday morning was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the shooting.

Nestor Hernandez, 30, was reportedly detained by police after a Methodist Health System police officer shot and injured him at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Police said he was on parole for aggravated robbery at the time of the shooting and was carrying an active GPS ankle monitor.

Hernandez was transported to another local hospital, according to the Dallas Morning News. He is now charged with capital murder.

Police in Texas raced to the hospital on North Beckley Avenue soon before noon after receiving reports of a shooting inside.

The guy was shot by a member of the Methodist Police and taken into custody, according to WFAA.

Police discovered the two victims in the hospital’s labor and delivery section. According to law enforcement sources, the victims were hospital maternity ward nurses.

One was declared dead instantly, while the other passed away later.

The hospital said in a statement, “The Methodist Health System Family is heartbroken over the loss of two of our cherished team members.”

Our entire organization mourns this incomprehensible loss.

“During this tragic moment, we want to assure our patients and workers that Methodist Dallas Medical Center is safe and there is no ongoing threat,” the statement reads.

Our prayers are with the slain coworkers and their families, as well as the whole Methodist community.

We appreciate the support of the community during this difficult time.

The mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson, expressed sorrow for the victims and stated that the city will “be there for them as we mourn and seek fast justice.”

The Homicide Unit and Special Investigations Unit of the Dallas Police Department are on the scene investigating the shooting and helping hospital police.

Eddie Garcia, the chief of police of Dallas, referred to the incident as “an appalling failure of our criminal justice system.”

The incident resulted in the cancellation of the event and the lockdown of the hospital.

On the fourth story of the hospital building were the victims.
