The addition of Derek Carr to the Saints’ team increases their Super Bowl odds

After weeks of speculation, Derek Carr has officially signed a four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

The former Raiders quarterback was also linked to the Panthers and Jets in the lead up to next week’s NFL free agency.

However, despite the signing, the odds for the Saints to win the Super Bowl remained unchanged by oddsmakers.

Since February, New Orleans has been 40/1 to win it all, mostly due to rumors of a potential Carr acquisition.

The Panthers, on the other hand, saw their odds drop from around 50/1 to 66/1 at BetMGM after losing out on their perceived top free-agent target.

Carolina may now look to trade up in the draft to secure one of the top quarterback prospects.

Carr will reunite with head coach Dennis Allen, who coached the Raiders when they drafted Carr in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Jets were also interested in the four-time Pro Bowler, but their odds remained unchanged at 25/1.

The top quarterback option for the Jets remains Aaron Rodgers, and the team was unwilling to meet Carr’s timeline while Rodgers is still on the table.

As of Monday, Carr is the only quarterback in the NFC South with more than four starts, other than his teammate Jameis Winston, who is expected to be a cap casualty to make room for the new starter.
