Tesco raises lunch deal price from £3.50 to £3.90

Tesco raises lunch deal price from £3.50 to £3.90

Tesco will increase the price of its lunch deal from £3.50 to £3.90 beginning next week, marking the first hike for Clubcard members in 10 years as the cost of living crisis intensifies.

The midday combo of entrée, beverage, and snack will increase from £3 to £3.40 for Clubcard holders and from £3.50 to £3.90 for those without a Clubcard.

The adjustment will take effect in stores beginning on Monday, October 24.

As the cost of living continues to soar, Tesco is the latest store to raise prices.

In September, inflation reached its highest level in forty years, climbing to 10.1% from 9.9% in August.

Milk, yoghurt, cereals, and pasta all increased in price by 20 to 40 percent in September, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Individually, meal deal products might cost more than £6.

Even with the price increase, Tesco’s meal deals will remain one of the most affordable options.

How much do retailers charge for a meal deal?

Tesco: £3.90 (without Clubcard)

Boots: £3.99

Morrisons: £3.50

Sainsbury’s: £3.50

Co-op: £4

In 2021, competitors Sainsbury’s raised their pricing from £3 to £3.50, while earlier this month, Boots raised its price from £3.59 to £3.99.

Prior to February 2022, the price of all Tesco meal deals was £3, regardless of whether a consumer used a Clubcard or not.

Since February, a Clubcard is required to receive the £3 discount.

70% of Tesco’s customers use their Clubcard to purchase the offer, thus the price will increase by 40 pence on Monday.

Individually, a Naked Smoothie costs £2.36, so consumers frequently opt for meal deals in order to save the most money.

One of the most popular combinations at the supermarket is a Ham and Cheddar sub, Diet Coca-Cola, and Walkers Cheese and Onion Crisps, which individually cost $5.24. Customers will continue to save £1.84 using membership cards.

Twitter users expressed indignation at the price increase.

A representative from Tesco stated, “Clubcard members will spend just £3.40 for a main, snack, and drink, making our meal offer a fantastic option to grab a lunch on the run.”

And with savings of up to £3 on millions of conceivable combinations throughout our outlets, including the recent addition of Costa hot beverages and our ever-popular Christmas sandwiches, we have something for every taste.
