Teenager Charged with Attempted Murder Appears in Court Following Disturbance at Devon School

A 16-year-old boy, whose identity remains protected due to his age, appeared in Exeter Magistrates’ Court facing charges of two counts of attempted murder and one count of grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charges are in connection with alleged assaults that occurred at Blundell’s School in Tiverton on June 9.

One staff member and two youths were involved in the incidents.

Remand in Custody and Transfer to Crown Court

District Judge Stuart Smith remanded the boy in custody and announced that his case would be transferred to the Crown Court in Exeter.

The judge informed the teenager that he would be appearing in the Crown Court the following day and would be held in youth detention accommodation overnight.

Legal Proceedings and Confirmation

During the court hearing, the boy’s name and date of birth were confirmed, and he indicated understanding of the proceedings by nodding in response to the judge’s questions.
