Teenage climate change activist, Greta Thunberg set to address Glastonbury today from the Pyramid Stage

Greta Thunberg is scheduled to speak at Glastonbury today as part of a “special appearance” at the largest music festival in Britain.

At 5.15 p.m., a 19-year-old Swedish climate activist will speak from the Pyramid Stage in front of a backdrop depicting the increase in global temperatures.

Her upcoming book, The Climate Book, which comes out on October 27, is also anticipated to be included. Following Thunberg’s arrival, the Californian female rock band Haim will take the stage.

She has been organizing school strikes in Sweden, but it is unknown how she got there.

For the first time since Covid, the celebrations started on Thursday, with thousands of people setting up camp by Tuesday.

The world’s most famous festival, Worthy Farm, has drawn an estimated 200,000 attendees.

In a Tweet, Greta said: ‘I’m excited to announce that today I will be on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 5.15pm. See you there!’

A few minutes before Glastonbury Festival Tweeted: ‘We’re very excited to announce that Greta Thunberg will be making a special appearance on the Pyramid Stage at around 5.15pm today. Don’t miss it!’.

Professor Ed Hawkins’ warming stripes, a graph that depicts the progressive increase in global temperatures over two centuries, may be seen in the background of the Pyramid Stage.

What would Greta do? was written on murals of the environmentalist and school striker that were shown throughout the festival in 2019.

Three years ago, Sheryl Crow gave the 16-year-old activist a dedication on her song “Soak Up The Sun.”

Greta created the Climate Book earlier this year, a new book with 100 top environmentalists and activists.

Speaking then, she said: ‘This is the biggest story in the world, and it must be spoken as far and wide as our voices can carry, and much further still.

‘That’s why I have decided to use my platform to create this book, which is based on the best science currently available – a book that covers the climate, ecological and sustainability crisis holistically.’

Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, and Billie Eilish are this year’s Glastonbury headliners. Billie Eilish criticized the US Supreme Court’s abortion rights reform during her fiery Pyramid Stage performance last night.

As she entered the stage at the Glastonbury Festival on Friday, she declared that the decision by the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe V. Wade was a “sad day for women.”

The 20-year-old singer said she “couldn’t bear to think about” the decision that terminated the US Constitution’s protection of the right to an abortion, leaving it up to individual states to decide whether to make it illegal. The singer made her festival debut in 2019 on The Other Stage at Worthy Farm.

The PM’s assertion that lockdown-busting gatherings were not parties was referenced in the many partygate-themed “this is a work event” flags that were prominently displayed at the festival.

The event was affected by showers yesterday morning, and there are worries about severe rain tomorrow and showers on Sunday.
